{Simple Sundays} By the Stream

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit." // Jeremiah 17:7-8

How beautiful is that passage? I think it paints the most amazing picture of someone who is firmly rooted in Jesus.

He is Living Water; He is the Stream. He supplies life and gives us confidence to thrive in good times and bad.

When the heat comes - not if - we don't have to fear. We can still bear good fruit. Fire and drought make their marks, yes, but when our source of life is Jesus, our leaves can still be green. We can still have joy, hope, peace.

Let's continue to extend our roots, our hearts, our minds, to the Stream, knowing that He sustains.
